Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s advance toward Droṇa and the Sātyaki–Karṇa confrontation
ki nu vakṣyasi rājānaṃ dharmaputraṃ yudhiṣṭhiram | ki kurvāṇo mayā saṅkhye hato bhūriśravā raṇe ||
Bhūriśravā said: “What will you say to King Yudhiṣṭhira, the son of Dharma? Will you say that Bhūriśravā was slain by me in battle while he was engaged in something else?” The question is a moral challenge: he presses his opponent to consider how such an act could be defended before the very embodiment of dharma among kings.
Even in war, actions are measured against dharma and public moral accountability; Bhūriśravā frames the deed as something that must be defensible before Yudhiṣṭhira, a symbol of righteousness.
Bhūriśravā challenges his opponent with a pointed question: how will you justify to King Yudhiṣṭhira that you killed Bhūriśravā in battle while he was occupied with something else, implying an unethical or dishonorable killing.
