Arjuna said: “The affection I bear for Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira, for Bhīma—the foremost among the strong—and for Nakula and Sahadeva, that same affection I bear for you as well, O elder brother of Śala. Even amid the fury of battle, I acknowledge kinship-like regard and the claims of honor that bind noble warriors.”

Educational Q&A

Even in a righteous war, a noble warrior should preserve goodwill, recognize bonds of respect, and uphold honor; hostility in battle need not erase ethical regard for worthy persons.

Arjuna addresses Bhūriśravas (called ‘Śalāgraja’, elder brother of Śala) and declares that the same affection he has for his own brothers—Yudhiṣṭhira, Bhīma, Nakula, and Sahadeva—he also extends to Bhūriśravas, emphasizing respect amid conflict.
