Sañjaya said: Bewildered by the net of arrows, he could not determine what ought to be done. Seeing Karṇa brought to such distress, King Duryodhana (too) was shaken—caught between the demands of duty and the harsh necessities of war.

Even powerful leaders can become mentally clouded in crisis; dharma requires clarity of judgment, yet war often forces decisions under confusion, fear, and attachment—testing one’s steadiness and discernment.
Sañjaya reports that amid an intense exchange of arrows, the person described becomes bewildered and cannot decide the proper course. Duryodhana, seeing Karṇa in severe difficulty, is deeply affected and uncertain about what to do next.
