Duryodhana’s Incursion and the Tumult of Battle
तस्य लक्ष्म न पश्यामि भीमसेनानुजस्य ते । 'भीमसेन! जिन्होंने एकमात्र रथकी सहायतासे देवताओंसहित गन्धर्वों और दैत्योंपर भी विजय पायी थी, उन्हीं तुम्हारे छोटे भाई अर्जुनका आज मुझे कोई चिह्न नहीं दिखायी देता है”
tasya lakṣma na paśyāmi bhīmasenānujasya te | “bhīmasena! yenaikātra-ratha-sahāyatā devaiḥ saha gandharvair daityaiś ca parājitāḥ, tasya te ’dya kaniṣṭhasya bhrātur arjunasya me na kiñcil lakṣaṇaṃ dṛśyate” ||
Sanjaya said: “I see no sign of your younger brother, Arjuna. O Bhimasena—he who, with the aid of a single chariot, once overcame even the Gandharvas and the Daityas together with the gods—today I can discern no mark of him at all.” The line underscores the moral shock of war: even the mightiest, once celebrated for extraordinary feats, can vanish from sight amid the chaos, stirring anxiety, doubt, and the painful awareness of human vulnerability.
संजय उवाच
