Sañjaya said: The king was seized by a grievous moral bewilderment, and while issuing many directions there, he went to Bhīmasena. King Yudhiṣṭhira began to reflect on what duty was appropriate to the moment; speaking much in that state, he became as if faint. Thus, overwhelmed by confusion and distress, the earthly king summoned Bhīma.

Even a righteous leader like Yudhiṣṭhira can be overtaken by kaśmala—ethical confusion and grief—amid war; the verse highlights the necessity of situational discernment (samayocita kartavya) and seeking support from capable allies when judgment is strained.
Sañjaya reports that Yudhiṣṭhira, distressed and mentally clouded, goes to Bhīma, gives many instructions, deliberates on the proper course of action for the moment, and then becomes as if faint, after which he calls Bhīma.
