तथैव वृष्णिवीरे5पि सात्वते युद्धदुर्मदे । अतिभारे नियुक्तश्न मया शैनेयनन्दन:,'शत्रुसूदन अर्जुनपर जैसा मेरा प्रेम है, वैसा ही रणदुर्मद वृष्णिवंशी वीर सात्यकिपर भी है। मैंने शिनिवंशका आनन्द बढ़ानेवाले सात्यकिको महान् कार्यभार सौंप रखा था
tathaiva vṛṣṇivīre 'pi sātvatē yuddha-durmade | atibhāre niyuktaś ca mayā śaineya-nandanaḥ ||
Sañjaya said: “In the same way, I bear that very affection also toward the Vṛṣṇi hero Sātyaki of the Sātvata line, who is intoxicated with the ardor of battle. I had entrusted the son of Śini—who brings joy to his lineage—with a very heavy responsibility.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of command in war: true leadership is shown by entrusting great responsibility to proven allies, while recognizing both their valor and the dangerous intensity that battle can inflame.
Sañjaya, narrating events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, speaks of his regard for Sātyaki and notes that Sātyaki (Śaineya) had been assigned a major and difficult task amid the fighting.
