“Today, in the battle, I have slain thousands of kings. Seeing this, King Duryodhana will be consumed with grief and burning anguish amid this great and terrible fight.”
सूत उवाच
The verse highlights the moral and psychological consequence of mass violence: victory in war is inseparable from sorrow, and the sight of widespread slaughter brings torment even to those who seek triumph.
The Sūta, narrating events, reports that thousands of royal warriors have been killed in the day’s fighting and predicts that Duryodhana, on witnessing this devastation, will be overwhelmed with anguish in the midst of the great battle.
