Sañjaya said: “Proceed slowly, easing and steadying the horses, and go to the place where the enemy host is drawn up—where those warriors, protected with foot-guards (greaves), stand with Suyodhana (Duryodhana) at their head.” The line underscores a deliberate, controlled advance in the midst of war, valuing composure and readiness over rash haste.

Educational Q&A

Even in violent conflict, one should act with steadiness and discernment: advance deliberately, maintain control of one’s resources (the horses/chariot), and avoid impulsive haste—an ethic of disciplined conduct amid war.

Sañjaya issues an instruction to the charioteer to move forward slowly while giving the horses rest, heading toward the position where the opposing army stands, led by Suyodhana (Duryodhana), with warriors equipped in protective leg/foot armor.
