Sañjaya said: O King, Kṛtavarmā, a master of excellent weapons, showered many arrows and, together with the clustered flights of shafts, cut down Sātyaki’s bow. The scene underscores how technical prowess in war can abruptly strip a warrior of his means, turning the battle on skill, vigilance, and restraint amid escalating violence.

The verse highlights how, in war, mastery of weapons and alertness can decisively change outcomes; ethically, it also points to the precariousness of relying on force—victory can hinge on a single tactical act, urging restraint and responsibility in the use of skill.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Kṛtavarmā unleashes heavy volleys and severs Sātyaki’s bow, temporarily disarming him and gaining a tactical upper hand in the ongoing battle.
