Sañjaya said: Seeing him in that condition, Bhīmasena’s son—mighty and skilled in battle—resolved in his heart to kill Alambuṣa. In the moral atmosphere of the war, this is presented as a decisive act of battlefield justice: a swift, inwardly settled commitment to remove a dangerous foe when the opportunity arises, rather than hesitation that could endanger one’s own side.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights decisive resolve in a righteous struggle: when a dangerous adversary is seen in a vulnerable state, the warrior must choose promptly and responsibly, prioritizing protection of one’s side and the demands of duty over wavering hesitation.

Sañjaya narrates that Ghaṭotkaca (Bhīma’s son), a powerful and battle-skilled fighter, sees Alambuṣa in a particular weakened/compromised condition and inwardly determines to slay him.
