कर्णभीमयुद्धम्

Karna–Bhīma Combat Report

इस प्रकार श्रीमहाभारत द्रोणपर्वके अन्तर्गत जयद्रथवधपर्वमें ध्वजवर्णनविषयक एक यो पाँचवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ

Iti prakāraṃ Śrīmahābhārate Droṇaparvake antargataṃ Jayadrathavadhaparvaṇi dhvajavarṇanaviṣayaka eka-śata-pañcamaḥ adhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ abhavat.

Thus, in the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the Droṇa Parva, in the sub-section concerning the slaying of Jayadratha, the one-hundred-and-fifth chapter—dealing with the description of banners—comes to its close. The narrative framing underscores how the epic’s war-account is carefully organized: even amid violence, attention is given to symbols of identity and resolve (such as standards and flags) that shape morale, allegiance, and the ethical self-understanding of warriors.

Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse does not teach a doctrine directly; it highlights the epic’s method: war is narrated with ordered chapters and thematic focus. The mention of banners suggests that symbols—standards, emblems, and insignia—carry ethical and psychological weight in battle, shaping duty, loyalty, and resolve.

This is an end-of-chapter marker stating that the 105th chapter, focused on describing banners, has concluded within the Jayadratha-slaying section of the Droṇa Parva.
