Educational Q&A

Even extraordinary power and proven skill can fail under certain conditions; the verse highlights the unpredictability of battle and the ethical pressure on a warrior to persevere in dharma despite sudden reversals.

Sañjaya remarks to Dhṛtarāṣṭra (while addressing Arjuna as Pārtha in reported speech) that Arjuna’s fearsome, enemy-piercing arrows are strangely producing no result ‘today,’ underscoring a moment where Arjuna’s usual effectiveness is checked by circumstances on the battlefield.
