षष्टिं वर्षमहस्राणि षष्टिमेव शतानि च । आदित्यतापतप्तास्ते विशन्ति शशिमण्डलम्,वे छाछठ हजार वर्षोतक ही सूर्यदेवके तापमें तपकर अन्तमें चन्द्रमण्डलमें प्रवेश कर जाते हैं
ṣaṣṭiṁ varṣa-sahasrāṇi ṣaṣṭim eva śatāni ca | āditya-tāpa-taptās te viśanti śaśi-maṇḍalam ||
Sañjaya said: After being scorched by the Sun’s heat for sixty thousand years and sixty hundreds more, they finally enter the orb of the Moon. The statement underscores a cosmic moral order in which beings undergo long, purifying endurance before attaining a higher, cooler station—suggesting that ascent is earned through sustained discipline and the ripening of one’s allotted course.
