न च मे क्रोशतस्तात श्रुतवानसि वै पुरा । तदिदं समनुप्राप्तं यत् पाण्डूनवमन्यसे,तात! इस तरहकी बातें मैंने पहले पुकार-पुकारकर कही हैं, परंतु तुमने उन सबको अनसुनी कर दिया है। तुम जो पाण्डवोंका अपमान करते आये हो, आज उसीका यह फल प्राप्त हुआ है
na ca me krośatas tāta śrutavān asi vai purā | tad idaṃ samanupprāptaṃ yat pāṇḍūn avamanyase, tāta ||
Bhishma said: “And you did not listen to me earlier, my son, even when I cried out in warning. Now this very consequence has come upon you: because you have long dishonored the sons of Pandu, you are reaping the fruit of that contempt.”
भीष्म उवाच
Ignoring wise counsel and persisting in contempt toward the righteous leads to inevitable consequences; disrespect (avamāna) toward the Pandavas is framed as an ethical fault whose karmic result now ripens.
On the battlefield context of Bhishma Parva, Bhishma addresses the Kaurava side (implicitly Duryodhana), reminding him that earlier warnings were not heeded, and that the present calamity is the direct outcome of his long-standing insult and hostility toward the Pandavas.
