The Tumult of Battle Described
उदीर्णान् पर्थिवान् सर्वान् साश्वान् सरथकुण्जरान् | असम्भ्रमं भीमसेनो गदया समवारयत्,घोड़े, हाथी तथा रथसहित जितने भी भूपाल वहाँ आगे बढ़ रहे थे, उन सबको केवल गदाकी सहायतासे भीमसेनने बिना किसी घबराहटके रोक दिया
udīrṇān pārthivān sarvān sāśvān sarathakuñjarān | asambhramaṃ bhīmaseno gadayā samavārayat ||
Sañjaya said: As all the kings surged forward—together with their horses, chariots, and elephants—Bhīmasena, without the least agitation, checked them with his mace. The scene underscores steadfast courage and disciplined force in battle: power is shown not as rage, but as controlled resolve in the face of a massed onslaught.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights asambhrama—steadiness without panic—as a warrior’s virtue: effective strength is guided by composure and disciplined action rather than fear or frenzy.
Sañjaya reports that Bhīma, wielding his mace, single-handedly checks the advancing mass of kings along with their cavalry, chariots, and elephants, stopping their forward rush.
