Therefore, uttering “Om” at the outset, the acts of sacrifice, charity, and austerity—performed in accordance with scriptural rule—are continually set in motion by those who speak of (and live by) Brahman. The verse frames sacred action as ethically grounded and ritually disciplined, beginning with a consecrating invocation that aligns deeds with ultimate reality.

Educational Q&A

Sacred duties like sacrifice, charity, and austerity should be initiated with the consecrating utterance “Om” and carried out according to scriptural injunction; such disciplined action is characteristic of Brahman-oriented practitioners.

In the didactic flow, the speaker explains how the sacred designation “Om” functions practically: it is pronounced to commence prescribed religious acts, linking outward practice (yajña, dāna, tapaḥ) with the Brahman-centered orientation of the wise.
