Educational Q&A

Even after receiving an overwhelming vision of the Divine as the cosmic, all-consuming Universal Form, the devotee seeks a form that is approachable and relational. The verse highlights the ethical and devotional need for reassurance: awe must be balanced by grace, so that dharma can be pursued with steadiness rather than terror.

After witnessing Krishna’s Viśvarūpa, Arjuna is shaken and longs for the familiar, benevolent manifestation of Krishna as the four-armed Lord bearing the crown, mace, and discus. He asks Krishna to withdraw the terrifying cosmic display and reappear in the recognizable divine form that restores composure before the war’s moral demands.
