सम्बन्ध--इस प्रकार जर्जुनके प्रश्नका उत्तर देकर अब भगवान् दो शलोकोंद्वारा युद्ध करनेगें सब प्रकारसे लाभ दिखलाकर अजुनिको युद्धके लिये उत्साहित करते हुए आज्ञा देते हैं-- तस्मात् त्वमुत्तिष्ठट यशो लभस्व जित्वा शत्रून् भुड्क्ष्व राज्यं समृद्धम् | मयैवैते निहता: पूर्वमेव निमित्तमात्रं भव सव्यसाचिन्,अतएव तू उठ! यश प्राप्त कर और शत्रुओंको जीतकर धन-धान्यसे सम्पन्न राज्यको भोग।* ये सब शूरवीर पहलेहीसे मेरे ही द्वारा मारे हुए हैं। हे सव्यसाचिन्! तू तो केवल निमित्तमात्र बन जाई
tasmāt tvam uttiṣṭha yaśo labhasva jitvā śatrūn bhuṅkṣva rājyaṁ samṛddham | mayaivaite nihatāḥ pūrvam eva nimittamātraṁ bhava savyasācin ||
Therefore, rise up. Win glory; conquer the enemies and enjoy a prosperous kingdom. These warriors have already been slain by Me beforehand—O Savyasācin, be only the instrument. In ethical terms, Kṛṣṇa urges Arjuna to act without paralysis or self-appropriation: the duty of a kṣatriya is to fight for dharma, while the ultimate outcome rests with the divine order; Arjuna’s responsibility is disciplined action, not egoic ownership of results.
अजुन उवाच
Act decisively in accordance with dharma while relinquishing egoic ownership of outcomes. Kṛṣṇa frames Arjuna’s role as nimitta—an instrument—so Arjuna should perform his duty with courage and clarity, leaving the final dispensation to the divine order.
After revealing the inevitability of the warriors’ destruction (in the cosmic vision context), Kṛṣṇa commands Arjuna to rise and fight. The verse motivates him with the promise of honor and rightful sovereignty, while also asserting that the decisive outcome is already determined—Arjuna is to serve as the immediate agent in that unfolding.
