Vyāsa said: Those whose army shines with ornaments, armor, and banners, and with auspicious, confident battle-cries and the neighing of horses—so resplendent that it is hard for the enemy even to look upon it—such warriors surely conquer their foes. The verse underscores how disciplined display, morale, and preparedness become visible signs of strength in war.

Educational Q&A

External splendor—armor, standards, and confident sounds—signals inner readiness: organization, protection, and morale. Such visible preparedness intimidates opponents and tends to produce victory in battle.

Vyāsa describes the characteristics of a formidable army: it is well-equipped and brilliantly arrayed, with banners and armor, and it resounds with confident cries and the neighing of horses—making it daunting for enemies to face.
