Sanjaya said: When Bhishma, the son of the Ganga, had spoken thus, Karna—son of Radha—bowed to him, took his leave after receiving his counsel, mounted his chariot, and set out toward your son (Duryodhana). The scene underscores disciplined conduct within a warrior hierarchy: even amid impending battle, proper respect to elders and adherence to guidance are maintained.
संजय उवाच
Even in a war setting, dharmic discipline is shown through respectful salutation to elders, receiving counsel, and acting within the accepted chain of command; personal valor is framed by propriety and guidance.
After Bhishma finishes speaking, Karna bows to him, takes his counsel/permission, mounts his chariot, and goes to meet Dhritarashtra’s son—Duryodhana.
