Sanjaya said: O venerable king, in the thick of battle they struck Arjuna and Bhimasena. Your sons—Chitrasena and the others—on the battlefield swiftly wounded both Arjuna and Bhima with five sharp arrows each, pressing the assault without pause amid the demands and ruthlessness of war.

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the relentless momentum of war: even renowned heroes like Arjuna and Bhima are subject to injury when many act in concert. Ethically, it reflects the kshatriya arena where valor, strategy, and consequence unfold without sentiment, and where collective action can momentarily check individual prowess.

Sanjaya reports to the king that Chitrasena and other Kaurava princes quickly shoot Arjuna and Bhima, each receiving five sharp arrows. It is a brief battlefield update showing the Kauravas’ coordinated strike against the Pandava champions.
