Iti prakāraḥ Śrīmahābhārate Bhīṣmaparvake antargataṃ Bhīṣmavadhaparvaṇi aṣṭame dine yuddhe senāyāḥ śibiraṃ prati lautanena sambandhaṃ rakhanevālā chānabevāṃ adhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ huā.
Thus ends the ninety-sixth chapter of the Bhīṣma Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, within the section concerning the fall of Bhīṣma, describing how—on the eighth day of the war—the army returned to its camp. The closing note underscores the rhythm of battle and withdrawal, reminding the listener that warfare proceeds in cycles of action and respite, with consequences that accumulate toward Bhīṣma’s destined downfall.

As a colophon-style closing, the passage does not teach a doctrine directly; it frames the ethical gravity of the war by marking its disciplined cadence—battle followed by withdrawal—suggesting that actions in war unfold within an ordered sequence whose cumulative results lead toward inevitable outcomes, here the approaching fall of Bhīṣma.
This is the chapter-ending notice: it states that the chapter connected with the army’s return to the camp after fighting on the eighth day has concluded, within the Bhīṣma Parva and specifically within the section concerning Bhīṣma’s fall.
