The father-in-law said: “Even in this time of dire peril, you gave away all this roasted barley-flour with a pure heart. Therefore, by the power of that meritorious deed, you have conquered heaven itself.”

A gift made with sincere intention, especially during personal hardship, becomes exceptionally meritorious; inner purity and self-sacrifice elevate the act beyond its material value, yielding the highest spiritual reward symbolized as ‘conquering heaven’.
The father-in-law addresses the listener, praising that even in a life-threatening crisis they donated their meager food (sattū) with a pure heart, and declares that this single virtuous deed has earned them victory over Svarga (the heavenly realm).
