Adhyāya 90: Babhruvāhana’s Reception and the Commencement of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Aśvamedha

त॑ं वै वधू: स्थिता साध्वी ब्राह्मणप्रियकाम्यया । सक्तूनादाय संदहृष्टा श्वशुरं वाक्यमब्रवीत्‌,उनकी पुत्रवधू भी बड़ी सुशीला थी। वह ब्राह्मणका प्रिय करनेकी इच्छासे उनके पास जा बड़ी प्रसन्नताके साथ अपने उन श्वशुरदेवसे बोली--

taṁ vai vadhūḥ sthitā sādhvī brāhmaṇapriyakāmyayā | saktūn ādāya saṁdahṛṣṭā śvaśuraṁ vākyam abravīt ||

Then the daughter-in-law, a virtuous woman, standing there with the wish to please the brāhmaṇa, took the roasted barley-flour and, delighted at heart, addressed her father-in-law with respectful words—setting in motion an act of hospitality grounded in dharma and reverence for the worthy.
