Book 14, Chapter 89

Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “Just so, the clear sound of groups of brāhmaṇas praising them also resounded there. At that very time a heavenly voice was heard: ‘O Pāṇḍavas, you have made a most excellent resolve; our gratitude to you!’ Thus, both divine approval and the benedictions of the learned publicly affirmed the Pāṇḍavas’ righteous courage and intention.”

Righteous action is strengthened when it aligns with dharma and is affirmed by both spiritual conscience (symbolized by the heavenly voice) and the moral authority of the learned (brāhmaṇas). The verse underscores that ethical resolve should be publicly accountable and rooted in right intention.
As the Pāṇḍavas proceed with a commendable decision in the Ashvamedhika context, their resolve is celebrated: a divine proclamation approves them, and the gathered brāhmaṇas’ voices of praise are clearly heard, marking communal and sacred endorsement of their course.
