Ulūpī–Citravāhinī Saṃvāda: Dhanaṃjaya-patana and Prāya-threat
सम्प्रीयमाण: पार्थानामृषभ: पुत्रविक्रमात् । नात्यर्थ पीडयामास पुत्र वज्रधरात्मज:,दुन्तीपुत्रोंमें श्रेष्ठ इन्द्रकुमार अर्जुन अपने बेटेके पराक्रमसे बहुत प्रसन्न हुए थे। इसलिये वे उसे अधिक पीड़ा नहीं देते थे
samprīyamāṇaḥ pārthānām ṛṣabhaḥ putravikramāt | nātyarthaṃ pīḍayāmāsa putraṃ vajradharātmajaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Arjuna, the bull among the Pārthas and son of the wielder of the thunderbolt (Indra), was greatly delighted by his son’s valor; therefore, he did not press or punish the boy excessively. The passage highlights a father’s disciplined restraint—approval of courage tempered by measured correction rather than harshness.
