Educational Q&A

The verse frames a dharma-oriented lesson by invoking an authoritative ancient dialogue: ethical guidance is often conveyed through remembered itihāsa and the counsel of wise teachers to kings.

Vyāsa introduces the next section by stating that, for the present topic, an old account will be cited—specifically a dialogue between King Marutta and the sage Bṛhaspati.
