Vaiśampāyana said: All around, the place was adorned with many-variegated banners, and the bells fastened to them rang out. Filled with the pleasant sounds of men and women, it seemed as though the very mountain had been led into music—alive with festive harmony.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights auspicious public order: communal participation (men and women together), regulated festivity, and harmonious sound are presented as signs of prosperity and well-conducted ritual life rather than chaos.
The scene is being described as festive and ceremonial—banners wave in every direction, bells ring, and the voices of people fill the area, making the setting (likened to a mountain) seem musical and enlivened.
