Kurukṣetra Campaign in Summary
abhyagacchan mahātmānaṃ devā iva śatakratum |
Vaiśampāyana said: The Yādavas of the Bhoja, Vṛṣṇi, and Andhaka lineages went forward to meet the great-souled Śrī Kṛṣṇa, welcoming him just as the gods would welcome Śatakratu (Indra). The scene underscores a social ethic of honoring virtue and leadership: those who recognize greatness do not remain passive, but actively rise to receive and respect the worthy.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a dharmic social ideal: honoring excellence and virtue through active reception and respectful welcome. Recognizing greatness is expressed not merely in words but in conduct—going forward to meet and receive the noble.
As Śrī Kṛṣṇa approaches, the Yādavas—specifically those of the Bhoja, Vṛṣṇi, and Andhaka groups—advance to greet him, likened to the gods welcoming Indra (Śatakratu).
