Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “The righteous Vidura, endowed with divine sight, had already told me: ‘Because of Duryodhana’s wrongdoing, your entire lineage will be destroyed.’” The statement underscores a moral warning: when a leader persists in adharma, the consequences do not remain personal but spread to family and society, making timely ethical restraint and correction imperative.

Adharma in leadership has collective consequences: a ruler’s wrongdoing can bring ruin upon an entire lineage. Vidura’s counsel highlights the ethical duty to restrain injustice early, before it becomes irreversible harm.
Vaiśaṃpāyana recalls Vidura’s earlier prophetic warning: Duryodhana’s offenses will lead to the destruction of the Kuru family. The verse functions as a retrospective confirmation that wise counsel was given but not heeded.
