ययाति-देवयानी-शर्मिष्ठा विवादः — Śukra’s Curse and the Disclosure of Lineage

ततस्तयोर्मिथस्तत्र विरोध: समजायत । देवयान्याश् राजेन्द्र शर्मिष्ठाया श्ष॒ तत्कृते,राजेन्द्र! उस समय वस्त्रोंकी अदला-बदलीको लेकर देवयानी और शर्मिष्ठा दोनोंमें वहाँ परस्पर बड़ा भारी विरोध खड़ा हो गया

tatastayor mithas tatra virodhaḥ samajāyata | devayānyāś ca rājendra śarmiṣṭhāyāś ca tatkṛte ||

Then, O king, a serious quarrel arose there between the two of them. Because of that matter, Devayānī and Śarmiṣṭhā came into sharp mutual conflict—an incident that reveals how pride and social rank, when inflamed over something as small as clothing, can quickly turn into open hostility.
