नानाराज्येषु च सुतान्‌ स सम्राडभ्यषेचयत्‌ । महारथो मागधानां विश्रुतो यो बृहद्रथ:,सम्राट्‌ वसुने विभिन्न राज्योंपर अपने पुत्रोंको अभिषिक्त कर दिया। उनमें महारथी बृहद्रथ मगध देशका विख्यात राजा हुआ

nānārājyeṣu ca sutān sa samrāḍ abhiṣecayat | mahāratho māgadhānāṃ viśruto yo bṛhadrathaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana said: That sovereign consecrated his sons as rulers in various kingdoms. Among them, the famed Bṛhadratha became the celebrated great chariot-warrior king of the Magadhas—an instance of orderly succession and the king’s duty to establish stable governance through rightful installation of heirs.
