Āstīka Stops the Sarpa-satra; Royal Closure and Protective Phalaśruti (आस्तीकः सर्पसत्रनिवर्तनम्)

Śaunaka said: “Channels began to flow, carrying the fat and marrow of the serpents. At that time, as the snakes burned without respite, a violent, overpowering stench spread everywhere.” The scene underscores the moral horror of indiscriminate destruction: the sacrificial fire, meant to be a sacred act, here becomes an instrument of relentless suffering, raising questions about the ethical limits of vengeance and ritual power.
