There, in the very residence of the king of serpents, he grew up. When he came of age, he studied the Vedas together with their six auxiliary disciplines, learning them in full from the sage Cyavana of the Bhṛgu lineage—signaling that even among the Nāgas, true stature is grounded in disciplined learning and the guidance of a qualified teacher.

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores that authority and maturity are strengthened by disciplined study and proper instruction: even a powerful Nāga becomes truly accomplished by learning the Vedas and Vedāṅgas under a qualified guru from a respected lineage.

Takṣaka grows up in the abode of the Nāga-king and, upon reaching maturity, studies the Vedas along with the six Vedāṅgas, learning them fully from the Bhṛgu-lineage sage Cyavana.
