Kaśyapa uvāca: vidyābalaṃ pannagendra paśya me ’dya vanaspatौ | ahaṃ saṃjīvayāmy enaṃ paśyatas te bhujaṅgama ||
Kaśyapa said: “O lord of serpents, behold today the power of my sacred knowledge upon this tree. O serpent, even as you watch, I shall restore this tree to life.” The verse frames learning as a potent, ethically directed force—meant not for display alone, but for the protection and restoration of life.
काश्यप उवाच
The verse highlights that true vidyā (sacred knowledge) has real efficacy and should be used in a life-affirming, dharmic way—restoring and protecting rather than harming or merely boasting.
Kaśyapa addresses the Nāga-king and announces a demonstration: in the serpent’s presence he will use his knowledge to revive a tree, showing the tangible power of his vidyā.
