Khāṇḍava-dāha: Indra’s Countermeasures and the Nāga Aśvasena’s Escape

Then Arjuna and Kṛṣṇa, having firmly decided what ought to be done, dispatched other swift-footed men. They sent them to Indraprastha to inform Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira of all that had occurred and to learn his assent. On hearing this, the mighty-armed Yudhiṣṭhira at once issued his command from his side.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic governance and ethical action: decisive planning (viniścitya) must be aligned with duty (kṛtyatā), and major actions should be undertaken with proper consultation and authorization from the rightful authority (Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira).

Arjuna and Kṛṣṇa determine the appropriate next step and send swift messengers to Indraprastha to brief Yudhiṣṭhira and seek his approval; Yudhiṣṭhira, upon hearing, promptly issues his directive.
