Ādi-parva Adhyāya 209: Śaraṇāgati of the Cursed Apsarases; Nārītīrtha-prasiddhi; Arjuna’s Vimocana
evaṁ sarvā diśo daityau jitvā krūreṇa karmaṇā | niḥsapatnau kurukṣetre niviśam abhicakratuḥ ||
Nārada said: Thus those two Dānavas, having conquered all the directions through ruthless deeds, became free of rivals and established their dwelling in Kurukṣetra—an occupation gained not by dharma but by violent domination.
The verse highlights how dominance achieved through cruelty can create a temporary, uncontested rule, but it is ethically marked as adharma—power gained by violent means rather than rightful conduct.
Two Daityas conquer all regions by harsh actions and, having eliminated opposition, settle in Kurukṣetra, establishing themselves there as unrivaled occupants.
