Vaiśampāyana uvāca: tato ’bravīd bhagavān dharmarājam—adyaiva puṇyāham uta vaḥ pāṇḍaveya; adya pauṣyaṃ yogam upaiti candramāḥ; pārṇiṃ kṛṣṇāyās tvaṃ gṛhāṇādya pūrvam.
Vaiśampāyana said: Then the revered sage spoke to Dharmarāja (Yudhiṣṭhira): “O son of Pāṇḍu, today itself is an auspicious day for you all. Today the Moon is entering the nourishing Puṣya constellation; therefore, you should first take Kṛṣṇā’s hand in marriage today.”
The verse highlights dharma as acting in harmony with auspicious order and social-ritual propriety: major life decisions (like marriage) are to be undertaken with due regard for sacred timing and the well-being of the family/community, not merely personal impulse.
A revered authority addresses Yudhiṣṭhira, declaring that the present day is especially auspicious because the Moon is in (or entering) Puṣya; therefore Yudhiṣṭhira is instructed to proceed first with taking Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) by the hand in marriage.
