Thus ends the one hundred and seventieth chapter of the Śrī Mahābhārata’s Ādi Parva, within the Caitraratha section, dealing with the episode of Tapatī. This closing colophon signals the completion of a narrative unit, marking the transition from the moral and exemplary tale just recounted to the next portion of the epic.

This line functions as a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it teaches the reader how the epic is organized—by parva, sub-parva, and adhyāya—and signals the completion of the Tapatī episode within the Caitraratha section.
The narrative action pauses: the text formally announces that the 170th chapter—centered on the Tapatī-upākhyāna—has concluded within Ādi Parva’s Caitraratha portion, preparing the transition to the next chapter or episode.
