“O noble lady, unite your brothers with your son. Taking this godlike one with me, I shall go to the place I desire; and then, at a fixed time, I will surely bring him back again. O auspicious one, place your trust in me.”
वैशमग्पायन उवाच
The verse foregrounds dharma in relationships: reconciliation within the family is urged, and ethical action is framed through a pledge that depends on mutual trust (visrambha). A promise to return safeguards social order while pursuing personal aims.
A woman addresses a noble lady, requesting permission to be united with her chosen husband (described as godlike). She asks that the lady reconcile her brothers through her son, then says she will take the husband to her desired place and later bring him back, asking the lady to trust her.
