स मुहूर्तादिव पुनद्रोंणस्तं प्रत्यभाषत । मानो दो घड़ी और बिताकर द्रोणाचार्य फिर उनसे बोले || ७४ $ ।। द्रोण उदाच अथ वृक्षमिमं मां वा भ्रातृन्‌ वापि प्रपश्यसि,द्रोणगने कहा--क्या तुम इस वृक्षको, मुझको अथवा अपने भाइयोंको भी देखते हो?

sa muhūrtād iva punar droṇas taṃ pratyabhāṣata | atha vṛkṣam imaṃ māṃ vā bhrātṝn vāpi prapaśyasi |

After a brief interval, Droṇa addressed him again. He asked, “Do you see this tree, or me, or even your brothers?” The question tests the disciple’s steadiness of attention and his ability to exclude all irrelevant objects—an ethical discipline of mind that underlies responsible use of skill.
