Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharma as responsible action: honoring the deceased through proper final rites, done with consent (“tathāstu”), in the company of respected elders (Bhīṣma), and in a sanctified setting—showing that ethical duty is fulfilled through orderly, reverent conduct.

After assenting to Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s direction, Vidura joins Bhīṣma and arranges/undertakes Pāṇḍu’s funeral rites in a highly revered place, marking the formal completion of Pāṇḍu’s last sacraments.
