Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: “Arrange matters so that Mādrī is honored in the very way Kuntī wishes to honor her. Cover her well and completely, so that neither the wind nor the sun may look upon her.”
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse emphasizes dharma in grief: proper honor and protection of dignity, especially for a deceased woman, and the king’s responsibility to ensure rites are performed according to the family’s rightful wishes (here, Kuntī’s intention toward Mādrī).
Dhṛtarāṣṭra issues instructions about the arrangements for Mādrī’s honoring/rites, directing that Kuntī’s desired manner of honoring be followed and that Mādrī be kept fully covered, symbolizing modesty, reverence, and careful ritual propriety.
