The great Rājasūya sacrifice was accomplished by Yudhiṣṭhira. It was rich in every excellence, marked by abundant provisions of food and the proper distribution of sacrificial gifts (dakṣiṇā). In the wider narrative context, this royal rite signifies the ethical ideal of kingship: power is to be legitimized not by mere conquest, but by dharmic governance expressed through generosity, ritual order, and the welfare of all participants.
Sovereignty and success are validated through dharmic conduct—especially generosity, proper ritual responsibility, and the cultivation of virtues—rather than through power alone.
The verse describes Yudhiṣṭhira’s completion of the grand Rājasūya sacrifice, emphasizing that it was exemplary—abundant in food, rich in gifts, and complete in auspicious qualities.
