Sukta 5
ये स्राक्त्यं मणिं जना वर्माणि कृण्वते । सूर्य इव दिवमारुह्य वि कृत्या बाधते वशी
yé srā́ktyaṃ maṇíṃ jánā vármāṇi kṛṇváte | sū́rya iva dívam ārúhya ví kṛtyā́ bā́dhate vaśī́ ||
They who, with the Sṛāktya amulet, make for themselves armours of defence—he, like the Sun ascending heaven, as a masterful lord, drives the Kṛtyā-spell away.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition attributes the maṇi-hymns to Atharvan/Āṅgirasa lineages (hymn-level attribution varies by anukramaṇī).
Devata: Maṇi (as protective power) with Sūrya as simile and kṛtyā as the adversary-personification.
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (predominant in AV apotropaic stanzas; metrical exactness may vary by pada reading).
