Sukta 8
यत्रैषामग्ने जनिमानि वेत्थ गुहा सतामत्त्रिणां जातवेदः । तांस्त्वं ब्रह्मणा वावृधानो जह्येऽषां शततर्हमग्ने
yátraiṣām agne jánimāni véttha gúhā satā́m attríṇāṃ jātavedāḥ | tā́ṃs tváṃ bráhmaṇā vāvṛdhānáḥ jahy èṣāṃ śatatárham agne ||
Where, Agni, thou knowest their births and origins, hidden away—the devourers’ lair—O Jātavedas: them do thou, grown strong by holy spell, smite down, O Agni, a hundredfold.
Rishi: Uncertain from the single mantra excerpt (often Atharvan/Angirasic attribution for such material; requires hymn-level colophon data).
Devata: Agni (Jātavedas), as knower of hidden origins and destroyer of hostile beings.
Chandas: Likely Triṣṭubh/Jagatī-type cadence (requires full metrical scan; not safely determinable from the excerpt alone).
{"primary_rasa":"raudra","secondary_rasa":"vira","emotional_arc":"From investigative knowledge of hidden origins to fierce, repeated smiting.","listener_experience":"A sense of being defended at the root level; confidence that concealed drains can be ended.","intensity":8}
