It indicates not mere loss of information but the collapse of viveka (discernment) and dharmic orientation. In Puranic idiom, wrong speech/attitude toward the divine and elders erodes jñāna and blocks grace.
An embrace symbolizes acceptance, protection, and transmission of favor. Its denial marks a pedagogical boundary: until the gaṇas correct their delusion and nindā, intimacy (and the grace it signifies) is withheld.
It transitions from admonition to clarification. The gaṇas’ inquiry invites a doctrinal exposition—often leading to statements about Shiva’s purity, unity with Vishnu, or the nature of the supreme.
