इति श्रीवामनपुराणे एकोनविंशो ऽध्यायः पुलस्त्य उवाच ततस्तु तां तत्र तदा वसन्तीं कात्यायनीं शैलवरस्य शृङ्गे अपश्यतां दानवसत्तमौ द्वौ चण्डश् च मुण्डश्च तपस्विनीं ताम्

Demikianlah Bab ke-19 dalam Śrī Vāmana Purāṇa. Pulastya berkata: Kemudian pada saat itu, dua yang terunggul di antara Dānava—Caṇḍa dan Muṇḍa—melihat Kātyāyanī, sang pertapa wanita, yang tinggal di puncak gunung yang mulia.
