Tattva Level: pasha

Shiva Form: Kālabhairava

Sthala Purana: A moral-ritual warning: harming Kālabhairava’s devotees rebounds as duḥkha and durgati. This is protective dharma around the bhakta-saṅgha rather than a Jyotirliṅga narrative.

Significance: Encourages reverence toward Bhairava-bhaktas and non-violence/ahiṃsā; frames offenses (aparādha) as spiritually ruinous.

Cosmic Event: Karmic causality across rebirth is implied (‘punar’), indicating repeated descent into durgati through aparādha.

FAQs

It teaches that devotion to Shiva (here as Kālabhairava) is protected by dharma: harming Shiva’s devotees is a grave transgression that rebounds as suffering and a lower destiny, reinforcing compassion and reverence toward bhaktas.

Kālabhairava is a Saguna manifestation of Shiva; the verse extends the ethic of Linga-worship—honor Shiva by honoring His devotees—showing that true worship is not only ritual but also right conduct toward the Shaiva community.

A practical takeaway is to cultivate bhakti with non-violence and humility—regular japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and respectful service to Shiva-bhaktas as a protective Shaiva discipline.
