Quelling the Fire of the Third Eye
Vāḍava Fire Placed in the Ocean
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
The verse presents Shiva’s purifying power as an inner “fire” that enters the vast ocean of worldly experience and burns the rushing currents of impurity—symbolizing the Siddhānta theme that Pati (Shiva) alone can dissolve pāśa (bondage) and cleanse the soul.
It portrays Saguna Shiva as an active, accessible power who manifests in a specific form (Vāḍava) to regulate and purify creation—mirroring how the Liṅga is worshipped as Shiva’s tangible presence through which grace and purification are received.
Meditate on Shiva as the purifier (śuci) while chanting the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” contemplating a flame of awareness burning impurities; ritually, this aligns with Mahāśivarātri worship using bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) as a reminder of purification and dissolution.
